Choco Almond Crunch Ice Cream

1/2 cup sugar

1 tbsp water

1/2 cup ground almonds

1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened

1 tsp. almond extract

1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream

6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate mini chips or regular-size

chocolate pieces, chopped


PREPARATION:

PREPARATION:

Combine sugar, almonds and water in skillet. Stir over medium heat until sugar melts and almonds turn golden brown. Turn out onto marble or foil. Cool. Wrap almond brittle in tea towel and crush. Beat crushed candy with butter and almond extract. Chill. Allow ice cream to soften slightly. Quickly stir in almond mixture and chocolate pieces. Spoon into refrigerator container. Freeze.||Banana Split: Assemble a split banana with scoops of Choco-Almond Crunch Ice Cream in banana split dish. Sprinkle with toasted slivered almonds. If you wish, garnish with a maraschino cherry and rosettes of whipped cream.
