Spicy Chocolate Trail Mix

DESCRIPTION:

This energy mix combines the best of salty and sweet. Aleppo pepper has a fruitiness that pairs well with the chocolate.


INGREDIENTS:

1 cup slivered almonds

½ cup whole natural almonds

½ cup shredded sweetened coconut

½ cup chocolate chips

½ cup dried goji berries or dried cherries

1 tablespoon agave nectar

½ teaspoon kosher salt

1/8 teaspoon Aleppo pepper or ground chipotle chile

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spread the almonds on a baking sheet with sides. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden, stirring once halfway through. Transfer almonds to a large bowl.

Spread the coconut on the baking sheet and toast it for 2 to 3 minutes, watching carefully so that it doesn’t burn. Add coconut to the almonds, mix together, and let them cool to room temperature.

Add the remaining ingredients and toss them to coat. Store the trail mix in an airtight container or bag.
