Financial Analyst

The Almond Board of California is looking to add a key member to our organization to partner with teams across the organization to collect, analyze, and report data related to the almond industry and ABC initiatives. With a concentration on not only efficient management and quantitative analyses of projects but contributing to the prioritization and strategy implications of related analyses. The ability to gather, manipulate, analyze data efficiently and build models reporting that data effectively to relevant audiences, and draw insightful conclusions, is critical to the successful performance of this role. This is a full-time, exempt role that can be performed remotely, preferably within the Central Valley of California with ability to frequently travel to our headquarters in Modesto, CA.


What you will be doing:

  • Monitor industry statistics, syndicated data sources and follow trends in trade literature
  • Track and analyze global almond shipment trends, transshipments, and pricing
  • Forecast long-term industry supply and demand
  • Report on findings; illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text
  • Coordinate and ensure up-to-date content for monthly reports
  • Gather data and assist executive team in analyzing areas of ABC including production, crop size assessments, yields, production costs, program results, competitive activity, acreage and planting variables, etc.
  • Present findings, conclusions and recommendations to executive team and ABC committees
  • Develops tools and processes/process improvements to data collection and reporting
  • Gather data on competitors and analyze their prices, sales, and methods of marketing and distribution

Our ideal candidate requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent with coursework in Finance, Economics, or related field with 5-7 years’ related professional experience
  • Knowledge of general analysis and statistical techniques used in evaluating sales and marketing activities (Econometric modeling techniques using statistical regression analysis of data preferred).
  • Advanced level Microsoft Excel including, but not limited to, experience converting CSV files to Excel ready formats, Lookup Formulas, Dual Axis Charts, and Pivot Tables
  • Advanced level database analysis and reporting (preferably with SQL and report-writer experience) as well as knowledge of database design and structure
  • Strong project management skills including initiating, planning, executing, and monitoring/controlling and closing projects
  • Experience with data visualization tools beyond Microsoft Office preferred
