Manager, Trade Marketing and Stewardship

REPORTS TO:         Associate Director, Trade Stewardship


Trade Stewardship is the Almond Board of California’s approach to educating and encouraging almond usage within the supply chain (such as manufacturers, traders and importers). This position will be responsible for leading the execution of programs in North America and support other day-to-day activities across the globe as needed. Programs include broadscale tactics such as public relations, advertising, trade shows and conferences. This role also assists in our direct engagement with specific supply chain partners. This is an exempt position based at our Modesto, CA headquarters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are typical duties for this position, team members may also perform other duties  

  • Leads execution of all food professional (FP) program tactics for North America, managing agency partner team to execute larger initiatives
  • Own the North America food professional recipe library, works with agencies to identify on-going recipe needs, and oversees photo shoots
  • Oversees development of messaging platforms ensuring that relevant insights from research are incorporated
  • Coordinates consumer research projects with research partner, sets research objectives, gains alignment on methodology. Works with research partner to finalize research materials
  • Provides guidance to Global Marketing Development regional teams on content as well as other marketing and technical research-related collateral for programs. Shares best practices and content from the North America Food Professional programs
  • Supports ABC by monitoring relevant trade news and creating regular monthly news briefings for the senior staff. In addition, creates custom briefing materials (company profiles, general market updates) for upcoming event attendees
  • Supports Manager in annual planning process including working with agencies to develop tactical plans and preparing presentations for Committee Meetings
  • Project lead for domestic and international trade shows as needed
  • Leads management and process improvement related to the trade contact database
  • Manages FP email content outreach including content development, distribution, list maintenance, results analysis and identifying opportunities for improvement


  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, or a closely related field. Food science background desired but not essential
  • A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in food marketing or sales, preferably in a business to business role
  • Strong marketing background, knowledgeable in the principles and practices of marketing and advertising. Previous experience in launching new products preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with Mail Chimp or other email customer contact software
  • Comfortable presenting to audiences of various sizes and levels
  • Relishes fostering relationships with supply chain stakeholders
  • Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and able to manage rapid change

  • Experience with technology, procurement systems, and decision making in food supply chain

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: The physical abilities involved in the performance of essential duties are:

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time 
  • Vision sufficient to read handwrit­ten and printed documents and computer screens
  • Speech and hearing sufficient to communi­cate by phone and in person
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to use a variety of office equipment and tools, computer key­boards, and to manipulate papers
  • May lift up to 30 pounds (15 kilos) and manipulate heavier objects using dollies
  • Estimated Travel 20%


  • Domestic and international travel is required; must possess and maintain a valid passport for international travel.
