Staff Accountant

Are you an accounting pro who thrives on accuracy, organization, and teamwork? We’re looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support both corporate-wide accounting operations and administrative functions within our Finance team. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining internal controls, supporting financial systems, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting. This is a full-time, non-exempt senior support position based at our headquarters in Modesto, CA with a hybrid work schedule.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Prepare and reconcile General Ledger accounts and bank statements during monthly close.
  • Coordinate compliance with internal control policies for documentation and disbursement of funds.
  • Prepare and review staff VISA reconciliations, ensuring all receipts, approvals, and expense justifications comply with ABC’s Internal Control Policy.
  • Manage the Concur travel and expense platform, ensuring effective system usage, and provide training to new and existing staff on expense reporting and related accounting procedures.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and conduct annual inventory.
  • Prepare international and domestic wire transfers and ensure accurate recording in both the accounting system and bank records.
  • Support all internal, external, and compliance audits through document preparation and retrieval.
  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash accounts.
  • Post all cash receipts, maintain accounts receivable records and databases, and ensure payment compliance in accordance with the Federal Marketing Order.
  • Oversee document retention and disposal in compliance with USDA regulations.
  • Support insurance policy coordination and maintain records and accountability of all ABC vehicles.
  • Manage administrative duties for Finance and Audit Committee meetings, including minutes, agenda, and materials.
  • Assist with budget coordination and analysis.

Our ideal candidate requirements:

  • AA/AS degree in accounting or business, with 5–7 years of related experience.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills; ERP system and Concur experience preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and sound judgment.
  • A customer service mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
