ABC Applauds USDA Funding Boost for Export Markets

10/27/2023

In an exciting development for the agricultural industry, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture's commitment to provide $2.3 billion to support American producers and enhance agricultural markets. This investment comes at a pivotal moment, and the Almond Board of California is thrilled about the new funding announcement through the Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP).

USDA's allocation of $1.3 billion to RAPP is a significant opportunity for California almond growers and the agricultural sector at large. ABC extends its sincere appreciation to USDA and congressional leaders for this funding opportunity and is enthusiastic about the chance to apply for these funds, which will further strengthen the success of California almonds in export markets and extend the impact of ABC programs to build global demand.

This substantial investment is a timely boost, especially given the pending renewal of the Farm Bill, which sustains crucial programs like the Market Access Program and Foreign Market Development funding, both currently utilized by the Almond Board. The injection of funds from USDA will help bridge any potential funding gap and invigorate export efforts.
