The deadline for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 (CFAP 2), which allows growers to apply for funding based on 2019 sales, is fast approaching!

Recent modifications to the program updated the CFAP 2 payment calculations for specialty crops to account for crop insurance indemnities and payments through the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) and Wildfire and Hurricane Indemnity Program Plus (WHIP+). Prior to this change, funds received from those programs were not included in CFAP 2 calculations. New and modified applications will be accepted until February 26.

Earlier this month, the White House issued a memo freezing decisions made late in the Trump administration for regulatory review. As such, USDA suspended CFAP payments until the reviews are complete; however, USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices are still accepting applications and encouraging growers to submit them. At this time, no date for the resumption of payments has been announced. More information about the program can be found at
farmers.gov/cfap or by contacting your local FSA office.

The Biden administration said it intends to take additional steps to bring relief to all areas of food and agriculture during the coronavirus pandemic. ABC will continue to monitor the status of CFAP 2 and any additional programs announced.
