FSMA Readiness: What You Need to Know

11/3/2016

With the FDA’s extension of compliance dates to specific provisions within the Produce Safety and Preventive Controls Rules of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), many growers, huller/shellers and handlers have breathed a collective sigh of relief. The extensions will allow FDA to address concerns raised by the almond industry, and will result in modifications and/or guidance that hopefully makes sense for California Almonds.

At The Almond Conference, a panel of experts will explain the purpose of the extensions, what areas are being further reviewed, and what this means regarding FSMA compliance for growers, huller/shellers and handlers. This session will also highlight key compliance dates and requirements, as well as offer suggestions for FSMA readiness.

This is a must-attend session for those responsible for FSMA implementation within their operations, and for those who wish to gain a broader perspective on what some of the potential modifications may look like. The session will be held Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 12:35 p.m. to 2:40 p.m., in Rooms 306 and 307 at the Sacramento Convention Center. The panel will be moderated by Tim Birmingham, Almond Board director of Quality Assurance and Industry Services.
