ABC’s 'Own Your Everyday, Every Day' Campaign Features World Cup Athlete, Julie Ertz

6/13/2019

On Friday, June 7, the FIFA Women’s World Cup kicked off in France, and the U.S. team is poised to make a good run at the cup as defending champions. In 2015, the U.S. women’s team beat Japan 5-2 to win the Women’s World Cup final in Vancouver, British Columbia, and that game still stands as the most watched soccer game in U.S. history.

Almond Board partnered with Julie Ertz for public relations showcasing how she chooses almonds as her daily healthy snack, even off the field.

With women’s soccer growing in popularity beyond the avid soccer fan, the Almond Board saw a great opportunity to build awareness and advertise around the event with ABC’s core female consumers while having fun with one of the game’s leading players, Julie Ertz.

Ertz, who U.S. Soccer named the 2018 National Player of the Year, continues to be a key contributor to the team’s success. During her career, Ertz made a transition from playing as a center back to defensive midfielder. While she had played in the back line her entire career, Ertz saw this position change as an opportunity to challenge herself, continue to grow as a soccer player and prove to herself and others that she was capable of owning the midfield. This element of Ertz’s soccer story makes her a great fit for ABC’s “Own Your Everyday, Every Day” campaign.

Ertz will be featured in Almond Board advertisements during the World Cup, and she is also working with ABC as a year-long public relations spokesperson for California almonds.

You can check out ABC’s advertisement and other content created with Ertz on the Almond Board’s webpage. And, be sure to tune in to Fox Sports and FS1 on broadcast and connected TV to see ABC ads featuring Ertz aired during select U.S. games. The ads will also run on YouTube, ESPN’s Golic & Wingo show, the ESPN mobile app and on the California Almonds FacebookInstagramTwitter and Snapchat accounts.
