On-Pack Labeling Changes Now a Rule

9/6/2016

Food processors with $10 million or more in annual sales have until July 26, 2018, to comply with FDA’s new rule changing the Nutrition Facts label for packaged foods. Processors with less than $10 million in annual sales have another year after that to comply.

For almond processors, many of the Dietary Reference Intake Values, used to calculate percent Daily Values (DV), were updated, including key nutrients such as dietary fiber, total fat and, particularly for almonds, vitamin E.

Numerous design, formatting and other changes were also made.

Almond Board of California has created a comprehensive fact sheet detailing the label changes required for almonds.
