Silent Auction Raises $5,500 for FFA Scholarships

1/8/2016

In an ongoing effort to support the California FFA organization, each year Almond Board of California (ABC) organizes a silent auction over the three-day duration of The Almond Conference. Thanks to great industry support, this year’s silent auction included more than 60 donated items, bringing in nearly $5,500.

All proceeds from the auction are donated to the California FFA Association to provide scholarships to graduating FFA students. The California FFA Association State Scholarship application is available for high school seniors and must be postmarked by Feb. 1, 2016. Scholarships will be awarded at the California FFA State Leadership Conference in April.

Thank you to everyone who donated and/or purchased an item at the silent auction. A big thank you to the Firebaugh, Hughson and Turlock FFA Chapters and Modesto Junior College (MJC) Ag students for volunteering their time at The Almond Conference.

Each day of the event featured a different FFA Chapter with six to eight students, as well as MJC Ag students. Students volunteered as official greeters, badge scanners, silent auction monitors and more. Additionally, students were encouraged to sit in on sessions and luncheons, and to interact with industry members on the trade show floor.
