Since 2011, the Almond Board of California (ABC) has hosted a silent auction fundraiser at The Almond Conference, with entire proceeds going toward student proficiencies and scholarships. In 2016, ABC’s Almond Leadership Program took ownership of the auction, becoming more involved in supporting high school students looking to pursue careers in agriculture.
Today, through the efforts of ABC and the Leadership program, over $150,000 has been raised for California FFA with $55,000 raised by the 2019 Leadership class, alone!
“The FFA program trains and prepares passionate students to take on industry roles after graduation. It is a duty — and honor — for Almond Leadership Program participants to support an organization that helps fuel the future of California agriculture,” said Jenny Nicolau, senior manager in Industry Relations and Communications at the Almond Board.
