Assessment Increase Comments Close Oct. 12

10/6/2016

There’s very little time left to comment on the proposed increase in the assessment from 3 cents a pound to 4 cents for a three-year period. The Board of Directors made this recommendation in April based on anticipated costs for marketing larger crops, and for increased need for production research as the industry faces challenges in water supply and other facets of growing California Almonds.

The proposed rule change was first published in the Federal Register on July 18, 2016. The comment period was reopened on Sept. 12 with an announcement in the Federal Register, and reported in California Almonds Outlook. Announcements of the proposed increase and comment period extension also appear on the Growers and Processors home pages.

The comment period ends Oct. 12 at midnight, Pacific Standard Time (PST).
